Reviewing the state of business uses in Social Media our staff came across an interesting ranking. TechCrunch Mashable published a list of retail brands and their respective followings in Social Media. The top of the list? Converse with 39,537,456 Facebook followers beating out Wal-Mart by 5 million or so. Not only is Converse on top but Nike, Adidas, etc are in the top ten. Who knew that shoes are so social? Of course, a quick peruse of Pinterest and you can see shoes are an eye appealing commodity. In overall rankings of all pages Coke takes the top spot with nearly twice that of Converse with 79,489,053 Facebook followers after Facebook itself. You can see the stats at an interactive site wher you can sort them in various rankings. Click Here. If you are interested in developing Social Media as part of your marketing our next Social Media Marketing Framework class starts tomorrow. Email the Chief if you are interested.

New meaning to Can Do- John Deere makes 300,000 ‘canned statement’ with Social Media
How many cans does it take to make a combine? Celebrating the roll-out of their new series combine, John Deere took a ‘canned’ approach. A can sculpture at the company’s Pavilion is under construction. Here is a snap from the live web-cam. The company has a number of social media focused activities around the charitable project. The sculpture is a 3-D mosaic using about 300,000 cans. After the display holds down the floor of the pavilion for a number of days the sculpture will be removed and donated to a local food pantry. John Deere feels it is a symbol of their role in American agriculture. You can visit the Can-do project Facebook page and customize your own can wrapper and participate in the event. You can watch “Behind the scene’ videos from YouTube or see the progress live from a web cam. The participants are talking about setting a new record for largest can sculpture. Check it out!

Holy Blogging Bonfire, Batman! It’s another Blogging Council around the campfire!
Robin: What are we going to do Batman? Blogging has become so popular they are setting up another Council!
Batman: Yes, Robin we underestimate the attraction of easy SEO and tribe marketing that blog engines can provide for small business and solopreneurs. Having a club where they practice only makes them stronger!
Robin: Holy Google search, Batman! How will we ever catch up?
Batman: You forget Robin we have the Bat-Computer on our side. Remember, the Bruce Wayne Foundation would be nowhere if it wasn’t for our social media marketing campaign.
Robin: Gosh Batman, you’re right. What would we have done if we had not taken that social media marketing class from lept Like A Blog?
Batman: Exactly right Robin, the Wayne Foundation is now secure and stable so we can continue our crimefighting. Let’s swoop in and greet the new council with open arms. Remember I am an honorary Chief. We’ll check in with our blood brother Chief Blogger and get the details of the new Council.
Robin: Maybe we should join to keep our marketing skills honed.
Batman: Good thinking, Robin. Make sure the Bat-top is loaded in the Batmobile. I see the first session is Tuesday, September 6 at 3:30 pm. Make sure Alfred gets it in the bat-calendar.
Robin: What should I tell Alfred about it?
Batman: Tell him to go to this batlink (Batman passes a QR code from his Batphone to Robin’s)
Announcer: Will Batman publish his post?
Will Robin comment?
Will Chief Blogger accept them into the new Council?
Stay tuned next week, same time, same bat channel. In the meantime you can check out the Tuesday Tribe Media Marketing Club by clicking here.
Holy Halley’s Comet Batman, it’s the Bat Signal Beacon
Narrator: On a seemingly quiet night in the seemingly quiet shadows…
Robin: Look, Batman! It’s the Bat Signal Beam!
Batman: Yes, Robin, something diabolical is at hand. The Commissioner knows we have our Social Media Marketing Framework in place. If he needs help he will tweet us.
Robin: But, Batman, we went through the class but remember? The Commissioner was called away. Maybe he doesn’t know how to tweet.
Batman: Robin, right you are, how did I overlook that. Whatever the situation, we must proceed cautiously! When we meet up with the commissioner again let’s make sure he signs up for the next series of classes from lept Like A Blog.
Robin: I’ll put the Twitter for Dummies in the bat belt just in case he needs a crash course.
Batman: Good thinking Robin, but the commissioner needs the full training course. We can’t have this kind of thing happen again. To the Batmobile!
Narrator: Will Batman and Robin fall into the trap of a sinister arch enemy? Will Robin donate his copy of Twitter for Dummies to the library? Will the commissioner sign up for this round of classes? Find out at next week’s classes at lept Like A Blog.
